This peeling belongs to the alpha-hydroxy acids, known in short as AHA. It is ideal for skin exfoliation and rejuvenation treatments. Working in the stratum corneum, it loosens the bonds between the intercellular cement and the epidermal cells, and in this way it makes the complexion brighter, smoother and properly hydrated. It is worth knowing that, depending on need, it is also used in combination with other acids, among them pyruvic acid with antibacterial properties, or with a treatment such as microdermabrasion.
Course of treatment
The effects of the mandelic acid peeling are visible immediately after the treatment, but to maintain the effect it is worth proposing a series of treatments. The optimal solution appears to be a series of six treatments at weekly intervals. A series of treatments gives brightening and hydration of the skin, a reduction in seborrhoea and an evening out of the tone, which will last for a longer time. Over the course of a year such a series can be repeated twice. It is worth stressing to the patient that after the mandelic acid treatment they must not sunbathe, either naturally or in a solarium, for two or preferably three weeks.
